About Thillen Education Foundation

The Thillen Education Foundation is a distinguished community-based coaching and career advising program driven by volunteer leaders who are committed to honoring the achievements of and serving the students in Greene College & Career Academy (GCCA) of Greensboro, Georgia, a Title I school with a 98% poverty rate and 95% minority population. By harnessing the collective wisdom, leadership, encouragement, and inspiration of seasoned volunteer professionals, tapping into a rich database of resources and career tools, and by using donations to establish individual student award earning opportunities for scholarships and professional supplies, we strive to prepare and coach each GCCA student through his or her unique career path to fulfill their dreams for a college education, advanced certificate training (during or after high school), or military service. The Thillen Education Foundation believes in the collective power of community and knows that education can truly break the cycle of poverty. Through our quest to enable all 500 students attending Greene College & Career Academy to gain access to life-changing post-secondary education and professional training opportunities, Thillen Education Foundation aligns with corporations, community partners, and individual patrons who believe in the successful personal coaching and career planning model to achieve the goal of reduced poverty. In the future, this model can be studied and replicated by our nation’s public schools, impoverished or wealthy, urban or rural.
