About Thinking Nation

Thinking Nation is a national 501(c)(3) committed to empowering students to thrive as engaged and critical thinkers for the future of democracy. Thinking Nation partners with secondary schools across the country, currently serving more than 35,000 students in 16 states and the District of Columbia. In order to facilitate a transformation of social studies from a content-based approach to a disciplinary approach, Thinking Nation has developed an AI-enabled and data-driven platform to cultivate historical thinking skills in secondary students. Thinking Nation began in 2020 serving students in Los Angeles, and as it expanded, the organization integrated Generative AI into its supplemental curriculum and assessment platform in order to shift the paradigm of social studies education. We believe that history is a discipline, not a content, and when we center the classroom around that notion, systems change and students are better equipped. At our core, we exist to empower students, support teachers, and transform social studies education for the future of democracy.
