About ThinkSelf Minnesota Deaf Adult Education and Advocacy
ThinkSelf, Inc. is a Minnesota-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering the Deaf, DeafBlind, DeafDisabled, Hard of Hearing and Late-Deafened (DDBDDHHLD) community through education and advocacy, carrying on a 40-year legacy of programs formerly operated by Communication Services for the Deaf. Our Adult Education program is the only stand-alone Deaf adult education program in the country, offering a safe and nurturing environment for adult learners to gain confidence and improve their American Sign Language and English skills. Our unique approach helps individuals overcome barriers to learning, fostering personal growth and self-sufficiency. Our Statewide Advocacy program supports survivors of harassment and violence. Through trauma-informed services, including safety planning, crisis intervention, and counseling, we help survivors rebuild their lives. We also work with service providers to improve their capacity to support Deaf community members, using an intersectional lens that honors each person’s layered identity and experiences.
