Thomas and Company traces its origins back to the firm of Deane, Haselhurst & Howard which was founded in 1897 by Charles Marmaduke Deane. When Arthur Haselhurst became a partner in 1916 the firm's name changed to C.Marmaduke Deane & Haselhurst and in 1925 when Francis Eric Howard joined the partnership the firm became known as Deane, Haselhurst & Howard. In 1978 the firms of Deane, Haselhurst & Howard and W B Thomas and Company merged to form one entity. In 1996 the firm's name was changed to its present name of Thomas and Company.
