It all started way back in 2002 long before the world of online shopping really took off. Leanne founded TID that year and at that time predominantly stocked lamps and homewares. Branching out into jewellery was a no brainer when Leanne was introduced to a company called Look East who eventually went on to form the uber popular brand Erstwilder. From there the store shelves made way for other jewellery brands sourced at Trade Fairs in Melbourne and Sydney. Exciting newcomers to the field such as Tiger Tree, Zoda, Adorne, Jantan and Majique to name just a few. Being a Libran (read: people pleaser), Leanne ensured there were all manner of jewellery styles on the burgeoning shelves of Thousand Island Dressing. In no time the good folk of Brisbane and beyond came to realise TID was the place to pick up that perfect accessory or find something quirky for a hard to buy for friend. Over the years Thousand Island Dressing has seen many different changes to the jewellery landscape but none quite as exciting as the burst of local makers onto the scene. Since the very beginning we have proudly stocked locally made jewellery and have continued to form relationships with local makers and designers. Most of these friendships began in store when we noticed the jewellery being worn and discovered that the person wearing it was the very person who made it. We have also managed to source amazing items from all over the country and to form lasting relationships with some mighty creative women through the advent of Instagram. We are chuffed to have so many talented jewellery Makers in our stores…many of them from right here in Brissy! We’re so grateful they have taken a punt and let us stock them. We wouldn’t be where we are without their support and of course the support of our wonderful customers. And so our journey continues. We’re excited about it, hope you are too.
