About Thriving Communities

Thriving Communities is a Community Interest Company established in September 2021 for the sole purpose of creating positive, healthy, happy and thriving communities. The need for the venture was identified from the interventions of The Hengoed Happiness & Wellbeing Group which was voluntarily set up in 2019. Pioneered with social work values and ethics, the direct work of the group produced feedback from members which demonstrated that they derived significant, even transformative benefit and resulted in a decision to expand this beneficial work. “The Hengoed Happiness and Wellbeing Group is amazing. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. There are so many different events available to join including cinema, meals, visits the gardens and castles, shows , walks and mental health wellbeing events, and more. I like the way there are so many different people involved and it is so inclusive. I am accepted for who I am. There is no pressure to attend and you can chose what you do. The organizers are amazing. Claire and Mel dedicate so much time to ensuring there are plenty of activities. They deserve medals. I am so lucky to have this opportunity in this area. I have a chronic physical health condition which means that life can be difficult and this group has helped me so much with my mental health.” The social enterprise welcomed Dr Manmeet Kaur and Esther Apoussidis as members of its team in October 2022 and then formally appointed them as directors in March 2023. Since their arrival, the venture has clarified its expanded services and strategy for growth.
