The business was first established in Stowmarket by George Thurlow as an oil merchant and engineer in 1875. The business soon became involved in the sale of steam engines and agricultural machinery, growing into one of the region's largest engineering companies and a pre-eminent distributor of Massey-Ferguson tractors. The merger with fellow agriculture company F.J. Nunn in 1970 formed an even stronger business, which in 1982 purchased a share in a local Vauxhall dealership. The three decades since have seen the automotive side of the group achieve steady growth, with Thurlow Nunn becoming one of the largest Vauxhall dealers in the UK. The Thurlow Nunn Group employs more than 400 people, with an annual turnover approaching £220 million and operates from 12 sites throughout East Anglia, Bedfordshire & Buckinghamshire.
