About Tidewind

Tidewind Inc. is a Canadian power generation technology company that was founded with a goal to design innovative systems for generating electricity by harvesting energy from two very different natural renewable energy sources – marine tidal streams and wind – using unidirectional rotation rotor (UDRR) design (patent pending) as a main rotating part. Tidewind has developed a new type of rotor that has a unique and important feature – it always rotates in one direction regardless of the angle of flow of water or air coming into rotor blades. It can be used as a major rotating part of marine tidal stream turbines where sea water flows in opposite directions during flood or ebb currents. It also can be used for hydro generation in single direction flows of water such as river streams, canal streams or hydro power station streams. UDRR-based turbines also can be used in wind power generation in the areas with air flow or prevailing winds going in two opposite directions (areas between two mountains, for example).
