TINGTINGTINGS is an innovative art and design venture founded in London by Tingting Zhang and Yumeng Wang. At the pre-launching stage, the products and service of TINGTINGTINGS. include designing and making ready-to-wear hats collection, specializing in 3D knitting technology, new material innovation, data generating process, as well as unconventional hat making techniques. The collections would be presented through the method of combing offline art exhibition experience, online sales and new media marketing. Tingting, as the Creative Director of TINGTINGTINGS, is a cutting-edge designer, multimedia artist and material innovator. She is graduated from MA Fashion Millinery at Royal College of Art and BA Textile Design at Central Saint Martins. Mixing data technology and personal narratives, she creates transformative objects and experiences to explore the relationship of human and the information era. From millinery design to media experiences, her cross-boundary work is a seamless merge of fantastic material innovation with powerful yet subtle technology. The latest collection, “Cloud HAT”, is trying to create a fully immersive storytelling experience through the deconstruction of the concepts such as digital, computing, fabric, and hat. By building up a system that converts a series of sound data into digital knitted patterns in a collection of hats, the system invites the audiences to interact and play with the three-dimensional data and immerse themselves in a cloud world. They will no longer feel the data in the same way and will be connected with a virtual environment. “Cloud HAT” was built whereby to provide a new perspective for the audiences to understand and appreciate the information era. In an immersive environment and interactive experience, let the feelings, interactions, and playing come before the rational thinking, so that a communication between the viewer and the abstract digital world will be established.
