About TISICS

TISICS have been at the forefront of the development, design and manufacture of innovative unique Metal Matrix Composites for over two decades. The primary benefits of these materials are: high strength (50% to 200% stronger than base alloy, with twice the stiffness weight reduction potential (savings up to 35-70% less than comparable materials are possible The Farnborough based SME formed in 2005 from a management buyout of the QinetiQ metal matrix composite business group. TISICS has extensive experience of manufacturing Metal Matrix Composites in high performance sectors including space and aerospace. It operates the only European Silicon Carbide monofilament production facility, which is one of two commercial plants worldwide, and uses this high strength, high stiffness monofilament to manufacture light-weight metal matrix composite structures targeted at these sectors. The reinforcement enables titanium (or aluminium) to replace high strength steel titanium and nickel alloys or polymeric composite materials where improved material properties are required to meet increasingly demanding efficiency targets or to operate in more severe environments e.g. at elevated temperatures. TISICS works with customers to develop and optimise parts to exploit our material and process technologies and operates facilities for the layup and processing of these monofilament reinforced metal matrix composites, based on aluminium and titanium matrix alloys. TISICS has worked with major industrial companies to develop solutions for current and future components in their systems.
