About Tomorrow Come Foundation
Founded in July 2012, the Tomorrow Come Foundation is a nonprofit (501(c)(3)) organization specifically created to build lasting infrastructure by building schools centered around orphans throughout Africa. The initial project is to build a high school to help serve the orphans of New Hope Center for Children and Handicapped near Guder, Ethiopia. The New Hope Center for Children and Handicapped has about 50 beautiful children and a school within the orphanage campus. This school educates not only them, but close to 200 additional children from the surrounding village. This school however goes only up to eighth grade. Without further schooling these orphan children would need to leave the orphanage, get a job or go someplace else at the age of 16. It is our strong belief that because of their social status, once they leave the orphanage they will be more prone to discrimination, abuse, rape, drugs, starvation and death. Building a high school will not only provide a safe haven for these children, it will also provide much needed education to improve their lives and their community, which in turn will improve health and living standards for the whole village and the country. With the number of orphans in sub-Saharan Africa increasing to over 40 million, about 6 million of them living in Ethiopia alone, the need to build lasting infrastructure around orphanages becomes extremely important. This is why our goal is to not stop at Guder, Ethiopia but to continue to build schools throughout Africa to educate the orphans and the surrounding communities. What’s in a Name? Several names were offered and the actual name came from the orphans themselves. In their broken English, they would lovingly and anxiously ask, “Tomorrow Come?” when they were expecting visitors. This question led to a larger question – when will tomorrow come for these children? The answer starts with the Tomorrow Come Foundation.
