The Town of Minto is composed of the former Towns of Harriston and Palmerston, the former Village of Clifford and surrounding rural area of the former Minto Township. Located in the northwestern boundary of Wellington County, the Town of Minto is well situated between the major centres of southern Ontario and popular recreational areas along the eastern shore of Lake Huron and southern Georgian Bay. Minto is located just 1 to 1-½ hours from cities in the “Golden Horseshoe” industrial heartland, like Toronto and Hamilton, and less than an hour from Kitchener-Waterloo, and Guelph. The City of Owen Sound offers Great Lakes port shipping facilities, as does the Town of Goderich situated approximately 100 kilometres to the southwest. From our earliest history until today, the success of our community has been a product of the creativity and imagination of the people who came here to build a life for themselves and their families.
