About Town of Mount Pleasant
The Town of Mount Pleasant is a vibrant suburban municipality located along the South Carolina coast. It is the fourth largest municipality in the State, and continues to grow. The U.S. Census Bureau named Mount Pleasant the 10th fastest-growing city in the nation in 2015. Mount Pleasant has attracted national attention and was named as one of the top 50 cities to live in the U.S. by 24/7 Wall Street report in 2016. The Town currently employs more than 600 employees organized into nine departments, which provide a full range of municipal services. These services include police and fire protection, municipal court, public services (sanitation, maintenance of buildings and infrastructure, and stormwater), recreational facilities and programs, business license, planning, building inspections, transportation, and general administrative and legal support. Mount Pleasant is one of the few municipalities nationwide with accredited Police (1992), Fire (2001), and Planning (2013) Departments. Mount Pleasant has received recognition for 26 consecutive years by the Government Finance Officers Association for excellence in Financial Reporting. Mount Pleasant has won the prestigious All- America City designation from the National Civic League in 2010, 2018, and most recently in 2023.
