About Towpath Chamber of Commerce

The Towpath Chamber of Commerce is an organization of area businesses that work together to share ideas, strategies, and services for the benefit of its membership and the business community in general. As a community leader, our goal is to create a resource for our members to find solutions to the challenging issues that surround businesses in Northeast Ohio. Formerly known as the West Akron and Southeast Board of Trade, Towpath is a community leader and one of the most progressive trade associations in the area. Our goal is help our members to find solutions to the challenging issues that surround businesses in Northeast Ohio. This West Akron Board of Trade was formed in the early 1930s to give business owners a collective voice regarding their business concerns in the Akron area. Although this is still an objective, we have grown to include surrounding areas. In 2013, we merged with the Southeast Board of Trade. A 2014 survey revealed that the term “board of trade” is not readily recognized today. Because most of our members are located along the Towpath stretching from Cleveland down to Dover, the board chose Towpath Chamber of Commerce as its new name. Members of the Towpath Chamber of Commerce not only receive the benefits of membership, but also enjoy the opportunity to better serve their expanding community through the organization’s support of organizations like the Fairlawn Fire Dept. Toys for Tots, The American Heart Association, The Red Cross, The Akron Canton Food Bank, Akron SCORE, Akron Fire Department, Haven of Rest, Habitat for Humanity, and the Judith A.
