About TradeWinds Group
The concept of TradeWinds was born back in the mid 90's, with a dream and a vision. A dream of cruising turquoise, warm and shallow waters, of scuba diving at breathtaking coral reefs, and "liming" at sunset onboard beautiful catamarans anchored at tranquil islands. The dream became reality a few years later, when we started crewed yacht charter operation with our first catamaran “Turquoise Dreams” based at Bobby's Marina on the island of St. Maarten in the Caribbean. Our driving force was then, and still is, a firm belief that by exceeding our guests' expectations whilst cruising with us, we would pave the road for a successful business. The majority of privately owned yachts are moored at their home marinas more that 90 percent of the year - a time that otherwise would be available for cruising. All costs of maintaining and operating these yachts are still payable, making the few sailing opportunities substantially expensive for the owners. This is where the idea of our Cruising Club concept originated - all fixed costs for sailing, maintaining, and operating a luxury yacht could be shared proportionally with others, dependent on their actual usage. TradeWinds fleet today encompasses yachts ranging from 45 to 70 feet in length, all owned and operated by the Group. In 2010 TradeWinds launched a major investment program consisting of adding to, as well as replacing the older fleet, with new purpose built catamarans in collaboration with the renowned French yacht builder Fountaine-Pajot. The two models TradeWinds Galathea 70 and the TradeWinds 59 were introduced to the fleet in 2011 and 2012 respectively and the latest addition of the TradeWinds 52 will be launched to commence operations in the Caribbean in early 2015. These custom designed catamarans represent the benchmark of the quality & luxury that we will offer our members and guests into the future.
