About Trafalgar Toastmasters Club
Ralph Smedley, founder of Toastmasters in 1924, wrote two manuals to help his Toastmaster’s club keep track of their learning and growing. Many more manuals have since been added over the years as Toastmasters grew into an international club. Some 55 years later, in 1979, came the charter of our very own Trafalgar Toastmasters Club 4080 at The Oakville Central Library. We still follow the educational path that Dr. Smedley set out long ago. Just as it was back in the early days of Toastmasters the values of mutual support, respect, learning and feedback continue as cornerstones of our club. Trafalgar Toastmasters 2014 motto of “Stand Up, Step Up, Speak Up” mirrors what Dr. Smedley had started 90 years ago. We still gather weekly, we still stand up to volunteer for roles, we still step up when asked or encouraged and we still speak up in order to better our communication skills.
