About Treatment Action Group (TAG)
TAG TREATMENT ACTION GROUP INC is a Non-Profit based out of NEW YORK. TAG is an independent, activist, and community-based research and policy think tank committed to racial, gender, and LGBTQ+ equity; social justice; and liberation, fighting to end HIV, tuberculosis (TB), and hepatitis C virus (HCV). At TAG, we strive to reflect in our organizational composition and operations the values, principles, and rights for which we advocate externally. This includes a commitment to equity and justice, as well valuing diversity of experience, in our employment practices. Treatment Action Group (TAG) envisions the end of the HIV, tuberculosis (TB), and hepatitis C (HCV) pandemics with the discovery, development, and worldwide dissemination of safe and effective diagnostics, preventives, and cures through public health structures that end systemic harms and promote human rights, and that are developed by the diverse communities most affected by these conditions. This vision will be realized based on data and science, and achieved through community engagement, distributive justice, and equitable access to the benefits of science. Treatment Action Group had its origins in the AIDS activist organization, ACT UP (the AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power). In January 1992, members of the Treatment and Data Committee of ACT UP left the parent group to create a nonprofit organization focused on accelerating treatment research.
