TreelineFX is a new way to think about the Forex markets. Our unified currency indexes allow analysts to untangle the currency pairs into a separate index for each major currency. Forex currency pairs are not isolated instruments to trade in the same way that a stock is. A given pair represents the relationship between two distinct currencies, adding extra complexity to its valuation. To assess the state of the Forex market, an analyst will look through the major pairs, EURUSD, GBPUSD, AUDUSD, USDJPY and so on. At some point we might start to try and isolate which individual currencies are causing movements in the prices, leading to a complex, error-prone untangling of the pairs. To find a measure of each individual currency’s impact on price movements, Forex analysts can look to publicly available indexes such as the USDX, BXY or ASDX. These indexes are calculated using some arbitrarily weighted basket of other currencies, and are unrelated to each other. The TreelineFX algorithm improves on these indexes to provide analysts with a set of unified, self-consistent, individual currency indexes, calculated on demand as price movements occur in the Forex market. These indexes are the platform on which we build tools to better understand the Forex markets.
