About Tropic Rum LLC, dba Don the Beachcomber

The original Tiki restaurant in the world, where Tiki drinks were invented by Donn Beach, and the cooking and the decor likewise was created by him from 1933 to 1964. When he passed on in 1989 at 81 years, the last of the Don the Beachcomber restaurants closed in in Hollywood in his honor. We opened in SURF CITY, USA (Huntington Park, CA) on March 26th in the buillding that was, since 1927, the home of Sam's Seafood, one of the last large Tiki-themed building remaining in America, and have been welcomed by the people of the community, as we celebrate the life and history of Don the Beachcomber.
