About Trusting Connections Counselling

We offer Expressive Counselling Services utilising unique and highly engaging approaches. Trusting Connections specialises in Equine Assisted Therapy, Therapeutic Play and Sand Tray Counselling, all creative and expressive modalities, along with projective elements. The modalities incorporated into sessions include Person-Centred approaches, Gestalt, Somatic Experiencing, and Mindfulness. Our Expressive Therapies are suited to all ages and genders, especially children and people who have experienced trauma. The expressive therapies are beneficial as they allow the right brain hemisphere, responsible for emotion, creativity, and non-verbal traits to process concerns and issues in life without the need for 'talk therapy' as often the client may not have the words or dialogue to engage with traditional room based talking modalities. Bringing gentle awareness to the client's processes and non-verbal responses allows the client to make sense of their experiences through the role of the left brain hemisphere, providing a logical and narrative experience to make sense of experiences lived through. This connecting and communicating between the two hemispheres allows for integration of the body's felt sense of experience with the factual narrative. Trusting Connections Counselling aims to help clients with deepening self-awareness of thoughts, feelings, sensations and actions, as well as empower them with strategies for regulation, mind, brain and body integration, self acceptance and life long skills that can be of benefit throughout their lives. In the naturally calm and peaceful surroundings at Trusting Connections, whether spending time regulating with the horses or participating in room based expressive and creative therapies, a sense of safety helps to calm the nervous system so that concerns can be worked through whilst feeling supported, validated, seen, heard, and understood.
