The event is currently held at the Mariott of Southern Hills in Tulsa, Oklahoma over Labor Day weekend. The purpose of the event is to host a social gathering to celebrate the common interest known as Furry Fandom; which focuses on the appreciation of Anthropomorphic artwork, literature, costumery, animation, design, and more. TTFC's programming also focuses heavily on supporting an animal rescue-based charity - currently, Safari's Sanctuary. Tails and Tornadoes Conventions, Inc. is an Oklahoma-incorporated 501(c)7 not-for-profit organization. It is overseen by a Board of Directors, who appoint a Chairman to run the event Tails and Tornadoes Fur Con.
