About Tyne Valley Community Rail Partnership
Founded in 2004, we strive to fulfil the aims of the DfT Community Rail Strategy. We help everyone to Explore the North sustainably by train and work with and for local communities. We work in partnership with train companies operating along the Tyne Valley Railway and on the East and West Coast main lines, providing a link between the rail industry and the public. Our work is varied, *Increase awareness of the benefits of rail travel. rail services and products *Encourage active travel and illustrate how travel by train is an opportunity for everyone *Improve information provision at stations and in local communities *Strive for improved facilities at the railway stations along the Tyne Valley Railway *Work with local communities, businesses, attractions to highlight how rail travel can be a benefit *Increase local community involvement supporting the Station Adoption scheme *Strengthen links between the train operating companies, the local communities and businesses *Work with schools and colleges raising awareness of rail safety, career opportunities within the rail industry *We run the cafe in the former Water Tower at Haltwhistle Railway Station We are a DfT accredited rail partnership undergoing an annual inspection to maintain accredited status.
