About UAW Center for Manufacturing a Green Economy (UAW-CMGE)
The UAW Center for Manufacturing a Green Economy (CMGE), is leading the recruitment and training for union careers in climate manufacturing and empowering a well-trained, mission-driven green workforce to meet the growing needs of domestic climate technology manufacturing created by the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). In order to ensure that the climate transition is equitable and build consensus for the rapid and scaled decarbonization required to mitigate our greenhouse gas emissions, we need high-road workforce development and union jobs. CMGE is building this model – the first of its kind in the country – for the green economy. With our training, we are empowering workers with knowledge of green technologies and manufacturing, ensuring that their voices are amplified, connecting them to good union jobs in green sectors, and building a just transition towards new, diverse, climate industries where workers and communities can thrive.
