About Ubomi Youth Foundation

The UBOMI YOUTH FOUNDATION is a registered non profit organization who, in collaboration with various community and government organizations, work to enhance the lives of young men and women through the development and implementation of community based programs that continuously mentor the youth living within drug, crime ridden and disenfranchised communities. Increased vulnerability in families due to victimization, substance abuse, maltreatment or abuse in the family pose the risk of family breakdown. Other community risk factors like high crime rates aggravates the situation. We MUST break the cycle by developing and equipping our children and parents to deal with life space crises. Our intervention programmes are based on our “ALIVE & FREE” Violence Prevention & Intervention Model that views violence from a public health perspective and “frames violence at the community and individual level as treatable and avoidable. In our approach we identify specific precursors of violence as avoidable and identify young people, including perpetrators of violence and abuse as victims of the disease of violence rather than as "bad" people and at the same time, place responsibility to reduce the risk of violence and abuse on the individuals themselves. Ubomi Foundation provides specific methods and techniques for individuals, both youth and adults as well as organizations to prevent or eradicate violence from their lives, families and communities.
