About UConn Formula SAE

UConn Formula SAE is a student-led engineering team at the University of Connecticut. Our Team is dedicated to designing, building, and racing two high performance open wheel style race cars. Our team of approximately 160 students spans multiple disciplines with 12 subsystems working cohesively to build a competitive Internal Combustion (IC) and Electric Vehicles (EV) car each year. We emphasize providing members with hands-on experience when working on projects, building their skills in fields like engineering, and project management. Formula SAE isn't just about building the fastest car, it's about teaching members design optimization, budgeting, leadership, and marketing. Members gain real-world skills in planning, design, fabrication, communication and many more skills which go far beyond what they learn in the classroom. At UConn FSAE, students are introduced to subsystems which match their career interests, and trained by experienced members to contribute and complete projects under strict deadlines. This pipeline develops members into Team leaders in their respective subsystems, with experience in a high-pressure environment. Whether competing in national FSAE events, or refining the latest design, UConn FSAE provides the ultimate automotive engineering experience for all students looking to launch their careers in engineering, finance, business, and more.
