About UCSB Interfraternity Council
The Interfraternity Council (IFC) at UCSB is the student-led governing body for all recognized social fraternities at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Its mission is to foster a values-based community that promotes leadership, scholarship, brotherhood, service, and personal development. IFC works closely with university officials to ensure fraternities operate in alignment with UCSB policies, national standards, and shared community expectations. Nationally, Interfraternity Councils help oversee fraternity communities by establishing recruitment guidelines, organizing events, enforcing risk management policies, and supporting leadership development. IFCs aim to create safe, inclusive, and impactful fraternity experiences on campuses across North America. At UCSB, the IFC Executive Board is made up of seven elected members, each responsible for specific areas that support the council’s overall mission: President – Leads the council, represents IFC to the university and broader community, and ensures goals are met. Vice President of Operations – Manages internal logistics, record keeping, and meeting coordination. Vice President of Events – Plans and oversees events that bring chapters together, including philanthropy and social programming. Vice President of Public Relations – Handles communications, branding, and manages IFC’s public image and social media. Vice President of Health and Safety – Promotes safe practices, risk reduction, and health education among members. Vice President of Recruitment and Expansion – Oversees the formal recruitment process and helps new or returning fraternities join the council. Vice President of Education – Develops leadership and educational programs that encourage personal and academic growth. Together, these roles support a thriving, responsible, and engaged fraternity community at UCSB.
