About UCSF Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences
Our Department has ranked first in NIH funding for 14 years straight in the United States for ObGyn departments. Our work is spread across seven divisions—Gynecology/Obstetrics, Gynecologic Oncology, Hospitalist Medicine, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Minimally Invasive Surgery/Urogynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and our Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital division. Our organized research unit, the Center for Reproductive Sciences, conducts valuable work in basic and translational reproductive sciences. Programs such as the Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health, Advancing New Standards In Reproductive Health (ANSIRH) and our Program on Reproductive Health and the Environment (PRHE) work to convert ground breaking research into women’s health policy, while also conducting independent scientific and policy initiatives. Our thriving midwifery programs at UCSF Medical Center and Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital provide expert care and classes such as CenteringPregnancy® a prenatal care model and offer racially concordant care opportunities. We continue to be leaders in innovation with our Center for Reproductive Health programs for women and men, our obstetrics and genetics programs, our gynecologic cancer care, and our multi-disciplinary approach to complex maternal-fetal treatments, and gynecologic surgeries. We have a strong and diverse medical education program with our residency program, medical student programs, and fellowships in nine areas.
