Our mission is to advance the well-being of diverse individuals and families over their life span and strengthen communities. We seek to develop thoughtful leaders who focus on the science and art of helping individuals live well in a complex society through careers in medicine and healthcare, education, business, law and policy, fashion, nutrition, financial planning, residential design and more. We are made up of the departments of Financial Planning, Housing and Consumer Economics; Human Development and Family Science; Nutritional Sciences; and Textiles, Merchandising and Interiors; as well as the Institute on Human Development and Disability. There are over a dozen student organizations that provide opportunities for engagement and community building, and students and alumni regularly praise the college not only for preparing them for their careers, but also for cultivating a close-knit, family-like atmosphere.
