The UK’s Trade Remedies Authority will investigate whether new trade remedy measures are needed. Like all trade remedies authorities around the world, it will operate under World Trade Organization rules, with the aim of supporting the principles of fair trade. Since the UK left the European Union, the UK’s trade remedies investigations have been carried out by the Trade Remedies Investigations Directorate, part of the Department of International Trade. The passing of the Trade Act, 29 April 2021, formally establishes the Trade Remedies Authority as an independent arm’s length body of the Department for International Trade.
