UMANO Inc was founded in1997 by strategic planning consultant Barbara Bacigalupi as a privately held California company charged with the publication of her writings, and the manufacture and distribution of her product designs. The company is uniquely aligned around a conceptual framework that all things produced by the company must evoke human values and offer the added value of meaningful learning messages. UMANO is the Italian word for human, humane and compassionate. Treasured gemstones, artisan carvings of the symbols honored in Eastern and Western traditions, vintage tapestry fabrics, and luxurious silks are the stuff of which our exquisite products are made. While components are collected from around the world, all items are finished by hand in Northern California. Designer Barbara Bacigalupi is the force behind all of these unique, often one of a kind designs. By fusing humanizing messages and training in relaxation and self-directed visioning techniques with tangible collectibles, we believe that greater humanity, compassion and joy can be facilitated through all that we do.
