About Umbrella School of Music

We are an inclusive musical school based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches with clients from all over Sydney. Our individualised one on one sessions and group events are aimed at providing participants of all ages WITH AND WITHOUT DISABILITY with an outlet to express themselves creatively through music, singing and movement. We use music as the medium to improve people's lives, developing confidence and important life skills (e.g. communication, mood regulation, interpersonal and social skills) all in a fun way. Activities are run by qualified Principal Facilitator, Ingrid Bass, who uses a variety of techniques and resources (e.g. instruments, microphones, books, toys, visual communication tools, props) plus a lot of encouragement to achieve results based on the participant’s goals. The sessions and events are held in 2 rooms of a welcoming, clean family home which has been set up with multiple instruments, a large TV (for viewing lyrics and You Tube clips), microphones and plenty of room to move around in. We accept self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants. Umbrella School of Music's vision is to help create a more inclusive, compassionate society where everyone is accepted and celebrated for their differences no matter their age, abilities and disabilities. Hence many of our events, including the monthly Krazy Karaoke Blasts are aimed at connecting people from all walks of life through the universal language of music. In March 2025, we will produce our first INCLUSIVE MUSICAL PRODUCTION of Disney’s CAMP ROCK where a person with and without disability buddy up as the same character in the show sharing costumes, solos, parts and lines. We simply can’t wait for this ground-breaking, first ever for Sydney inclusive “double cast” model to take place!
