About unCommon Construction
BUILDING HOUSES. FRAMING CHARACTER. unCommon Construction is a nonprofit that uses the build process to empower youth with the skills, network, experience, and resources to lead the workforce. Through our selective apprenticeship program, students from different schools join a diverse team to earn hourly pay and school internship credit for building a house from start to finish. The revenue from each project is used to match apprentice earnings with an Equity Award Scholarship for further education, career opportunities, and any other unmet needs. Through after-school and weekend sessions, participants gain the technical skills and real-world experience that ensures a more successful transition from education to employment after graduation.
