About UNESCO Housing Chair URV
The UNESCO Chair of Housing at the Rovira i Virgili University (URV) aims to create a stable platform for research, teaching, and knowledge transfer in the field of housing from an interdisciplinary and international perspective. It is the first UNESCO Chair in the world focused on the right to housing. Objectives: - Promote research focused on housing at local, national, and international levels: both as a fundamental right and as a financial asset. -Conduct training activities (courses, workshops, postgraduate programs, etc.), that contribute to improving the education of local economic agents involved in the housing phenomenon. - Engage in knowledge transfer and scientific dissemination activities at local, national, and international levels. Unlike other countries (such as the Netherlands and England), Spain does not have a tradition in the interdisciplinary study of housing. Team: - The Chair of Housing at the Rovira i Virgili University has a team of senior and junior researchers linked to different lines of research and projects, who teach in various undergraduate and postgraduate courses at national and international levels. It consists of an advisory council and a monitoring committee formed by the partners. Lines of Research. The research lines of the Chair include all issues related to housing from an interdisciplinary and international perspective. Some of the major lines currently being worked on are intermediate tenures, consumers, the mortgage market, real estate mediation, and leases in Europe. These lines are supported by nationally and internationally funded research projects.
