About UNICEF Student Team Maastricht
The UNICEF Student Team Maastricht was founded in 2009. The team consists of a board, committee members, and general volunteers. There are four main committees: The Promotion and Communication committee, the Fundraising committee, the Education and Awareness committee and the General Volunteers committee. Additionally, we have around 140 general volunteers, who contribute their time and efforts to the events planned and carried out by the team. Active in 190 countries, UNICEF’s mission is to help children all over the world in poverty, disease, and violence by providing healthcare, decent nutrition, and education. To achieve this, we organize various events for fundraising and awareness. The collected funds then flow directly to official UNICEF projects to support children in need. Currently, we are fundraising together with the other 15 teams in the Netherlands for the Maman Lumière Project in Burundi. Our current project tackles the issue of chronic malnutrition in Burundi, by training mothers and caretakers about healthy diets, providing cooking workshops, and by supplying supplements, sprinkles and seeds.
