About UNiTED Projects
UNiTED Projects is a community information and empowerment center based in Kpando, Volta Region, Ghana. It is our mission to encourage sustainable community development, empowerment and increased self-sufficiency through education, information and support for especially vulnerable groups in local communities. It is our vision that by 2020 UNiTED serves as a consultancy agency that provides education, information and support services upon request only. UNiTED, which stands for Unifying Neighbours Through Education & Development, focuses on the vulnerable communities and community groups in Kpando. UNiTED provides outreach activities like health education and health assessments to communities that do not have (regular) access to the facilities in urban communities. Besides the remote communities, UNiTED tries to assist marginalized community groups like people living with disabilities, pregnant women and people living with HIV/AIDS. These groups are provided with information and education. All our work is based on research with a focus on the community level. UNiTED includes as many stakeholders as possible in every step; starting with research, and continued in project design, implementation and evaluation. UNiTED has a good cooperation and high level of trust within the local communities, but also within local organizations and authorities. UNiTED is the only health NGO in our work area and has been acknowledged and accepted by both the local and regional authorities. UNiTED’s international network consists of cooperation with partners in community development, volunteer organizations and partner schools in various countries all over the world. UNiTED receives over 100 students and volunteers per year who all contribute to projects by sharing knowledge and skills to improve and expand UNiTED’s activities.
