About United Sound

United Sound's mission is to remove barriers and foster social change through music. We do this three ways: 1 - Peer Mentoring: helping teachers include special education students in their school's instrumental music program using a peer mentoring structure. We provide teacher and mentor training, curriculum, lesson plans, games, and so much more. We have curriculum for all of the band, orchestra, and guitar/modern band. More info: www.unitedsound.org/overview 2 - Play with US: general music classes for self-contained special education classrooms. Our teachers are trained in teaching music AND special education and Play with US provides weekly music classes with these teachers. Handheld instruments for every student are provided and United Sound's proven and specially designed curriculum is used. This class is a lot of fun for both the students and the teachers. More info: www.unitedsound.org/playwithUS 3 - Composer Project: our goal with this project is to help music teachers get access to more music by more diverse composers so that all students can see themselves in the music they play.
