Unity is a link in the great educational movement inaugurated by Jesus Christ; our objective is to discern the truth in Christianity and prove it. The truth that we teach is not new; neither do we claim special revelations of discovery of new religious principles. Our purpose is to help and teach humanity to use and prove the eternal truth taught by the Master. - Charles Fillmore, co-founder of Unity. Unity is a worldwide non-denominational spiritual organization which was founded in 1889. It has no creedal requirements, dogma or ecclesiastical hierarchy. Its teachings are based on a metaphysical interpretation of the Bible. Unity believes that there are many paths to God and Truth, and therefore, does not argue or proselytize but aims rather to promote spiritual understanding, respect and harmony. Unity seeks to empower people to make positive changes in their lives and in the world through the creative power of the human mind, which is seen as a connecting link to God or Divine Mind. The main concern is not with the future life, but with teaching people to live fully in the present through expression of the divine potential, which is in everyone. Unity is a positive approach to life, which looks for the good in all people and situations. Unity of Calgary is an independent non-profit religious organization affiliated with the Association of Unity Churches, but entirely supported locally through free-will offerings.
