Jährlich werden an unseren 31 Kliniken und Polikliniken mehr als 500.000 Patientinnen und Patienten stationär und ambulant versorgt. 2.700 Studierende der Medizin und Zahnmedizin erlernen hier die Heilkunst, an 26 Instituten forschen Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler aus über 80 Nationen an der Weiterentwicklung der Medizin. The only institution of its kind in Thuringia, Jena University hospital can look back on a history of more than 200 years. The University’s tradition as a medical school is yet older. Ever since the foundation of the University 450 years ago, the School of Medicine has been training and educating doctors-to-be. Today, the University hospital with a staff of more than 7,000 and more than 380 trainees is the biggest employer in Thuringia. Its 31 clinical centers and 26 institutes provide care for 500,000 in- and outpatients per year, as well as teaching for 2,700 students of medicine, dentistry, molecular medicine, medical photonics, eHealth and communication and integrative oncology. At Jena University Hospital, scientists from all over the world work both in the field of fundamental biomedical research and in patient-related clinical research.
