About University and Tertiary Sport New Zealand

Working together to enhance university and tertiary student well-being through sport. UTSNZ is leading an exciting new era in university and tertiary sport. Our goal is to ensure that the full potential of sport is realised to maximise the value for New Zealand tertiary students on campus, in competition and in our communities. We aim to achieve this by taking a collaborative approach, working with key partners to ensure alignment of the priorities and actions required to support and enable sustainable university and tertiary sport opportunities. Our focus is on quality inter-tertiary sports events, enabling students to represent their Whare Wānanga in sport at a regional, national and international level. We also aim to provide sport workforce opportunities that enhance student employability and build future sector capability. But we are also about far more than just sport. UTSNZ recognises that sport can contribute to a range of outcomes - building employability and life skills, supporting both physical and mental wellbeing, accelerating friendships and social cohesion, as well as creating a sense of identity and belonging within our communities.
