About University Art Galleries Department Texas A&M University
The University Art Galleries Department at Texas A&M University is committed to providing educational opportunities in the visual arts and humanities for both campus and community. The department administers two different museums: The J. Wayne Stark Galleries and the Foryth Galleries. The J. Wayne Stark Galleries host about 12 exhibitions a year. Visitors will see exhibits ranging from the traditional fine arts and crafts to anthropology, archaeology, history, and science. You can also explore the permanent collection, which includes works by Texas artists such as E.M. Buck Schiwetz, John Biggers, H.O. Kelly, Julian Onderdonk and Dawson-Dawson-Watson. The Forsyth Galleries is home to a world-class collection of English Cameo Glass and American and European art glass. The bulk of the collection was a gift from Bill ('35) and Irma Runyon, who collected art glass as well as American western and impressionist paintings. Highlights include works by Mary Cassatt, Frederic Remington and Winslow Homer.
