It was created in 1992 by students who wanted to take a more active role in residence life. The council provides events, services and establish equitable community standards for improving life on residence. The UCRC is made up of Council Execs and House Execs who are dedicated towards bettering the residence experience. The Council is founded on the principles of working for the community and every council meeting is open to all 740 residents. The UCRC takes the students' suggestion, ideas, and thoughts, and tries its best to put them into action. The ultimate goal of the UCRC is to make residence what the students want and expect it to be.
