About University of Liverpool Dance Society

We offer weekly classes in a variety of different dance styles which cater for all abilities, including: Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Commercial Street, Contemporary and Heels. These classes are held by our external teachers who are professionally trained and graduated from some of the best dance schools in the UK including the Royal Ballet School and LIPA. Showcases: We have multiple opportunities to perform including our two annual showcases which everyone in the dance society is encouraged to get involved in. Our shows take place on the stage in Mountford Hall with professional sound and lighting as well as a photographer who captures beautiful moments of our dancers on stage. Competitions: The Dance Society extends beyond campus and gets involved with many other Universities. We have our own competition squads who train weekly to compete in several dance competitions around the UK, as well as hosting our own competition on campus. Socials/Tour: We host a variety of socials throughout the year including; club nights, bar crawls, meals, film nights and so much more! As a society, we love giving back to the community. Last year we raised over £1500 for charity as well as winning the Guild Fundraiser of the Year. We work closely with Mencap, a local independent charity that promotes equality for people with learning disabilities. Our Charity Coordinator teaches weekly classes with choreography that is simple but extremely engaging and always puts a bright smile on their faces. This is a lovely experience for both the Mencap members and the society, as some of our members have the opportunity to attend and help out at these sessions. Alongside this we also have many other fundraisers throughout the year, including; our yearly danceathon (with all profits going to children in need), bake sales, sports day, our dance calendar and many more!
