The College of Pharmacy offers top-ranked programs in occupational therapy (TC and Rochester campuses), medical laboratory science (TC campus) and pharmacy (Duluth and TC campuses). One College, Two Campuses Research and Clinical Activities With a sponsored research portfolio of $31 million (direct revenues of $15 million in FY12), our research and clinical activities focus on: Drug discovery and development Pharmaceutics and drug delivery Experimental and clinical pharmacology, including personalized medicine Neuroscience Cancer therapies and chemoprevention Geriatrics Pharmacy management and economics Healthcare outcomes Ambulatory care practice Rural pharmacy Professional Education Since 1995, pharmacists must obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree that prepares them for a patient-centered practice. The Pharm.D. program is four years in length. 90% of students entering have a B.S. We have 167 total students per class (107 at Twin Cities, 60 at Duluth). The curriculum involves three years of didactic/lab coursework integrated with some early experiential learning, plus one year of experiential clinical work at sites all around the state. Approximately 1/2 of Pharm.D.s go on to complete a 1-2 year residency in hospital or community/ambulatory sites. In 2009, the Pharm.D. program received full six year accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education and was ranked 3rd in schools of pharmacy by U.S.News & World Report.
