The Data Science Institute’s mission is to advance education and research in the data sciences for industries that grow, manage, harvest, and utilize wood and fiber resources. The Data Science Institute is housed within the University of Tennessee School of Natural Resources (SNR). This Institute will apply concepts of data science, machine learning, and AI for the advanced optimization of processes to improve profitability of businesses through variation reduction and costs savings from sustainable target size reductions. The Data Science Institute is a virtual institute within the UT. Focus areas will be: 1) Webinars, training and workshops on data analytics, machine learning, and AI; 2) Graduate and undergraduate student education; and 3) Applied research in data science, machine learning, and AI.
