About University of Washington, Master of Human-Computer Interaction + Design
The Master of Human-Computer Interaction + Design (MHCI+D) is a one-year, full-time, immersive, interdisciplinary program offered by four departments: Computer Science & Engineering, Division of Design in the School of Art + Art History + Design, Human Centered Design & Engineering, and the Information School. Our unique approach seeks to educate the new generation of designers, engineers and researchers who can create thoughtful technology experiences through the application of human-centered design and design thinking. You will get to work in a variety of team configurations, side by side with people from different professional and educational backgrounds. As a graduate of this program, you will use your curiosity, creativity and knowledge to create innovative products and technologies that can change the world. Studio culture is the heart of the MHCI+D program. Our studio is where work happens. It is a place of tremendous creative energy, lively discourse, collaboration and reflection. We encourage externalization of ideas through experimentation, critique, iteration and synthesis. We also engage industry practitioners who bring a real-world perspective to the challenges we pose. Our graduates are ready to face professional practice with solid intellectual foundation and well-developed breadth and depth skills.
