University Physicians (UP) is the largest multi-specialty medical group in Mississippi. With over 400 physician members who practice 125 medical specialties, UP provides a depth of medical care not available anywhere else in Mississippi. Over 100 of our physicians have been named Best Doctors in America in 2007, 2008 and 2009, an honor paid to these doctors by their physician peers. And University Physicians is a proud part of University of Mississippi Health Care, the patient care mission of The University of Mississippi Medical Center. Many University physicians enjoy medical practice in an academic medical center environment because in addition to caring for patients in University clinics and hospitals, UMHC fosters an atmosphere of continuous learning and teaching, which ultimately benefits our patients. The education and research missions of The University of Mississippi Medical Center inspire University physicians to share their knowledge and experience with other aspiring medical professionals; or to search for cures for future generations through study and research. These opportunities combined with a genuine concern for the whole person, provide a complete and thorough medical experience for patients. Approximately 300,000 patients are seen annually by University Physicians at multiple University locations including: University Physicians Medical Pavilion which encompasses 16 clinics conveniently located in the Pavilion for ease of multiple appointments. The Pavilion offers a full-service lab; radiology services including mammography and MRI; pharmacy; physical therapy services adjacent to orthopaedic clinics; and cardiology testing including echocardiograms and cardiac stress testing. Procedures such as bone marrow aspirations, lumbar punctures, endoscopy and minor surgery also are performed in the Pavilion.
