About Unseen Ottawa

Unseen Ottawa - Community Empowerment Toolbox (CET) is a grassroots, community-driven initiative working to reduce homelessness in Ottawa through practical, people-powered solutions. We are currently in the process of incorporating as a not-for-profit organization and are building the foundation for long-term sustainability through our first programs and partnerships. Our approach combines immediate relief with pathways toward stability. The work is organized into four pillars: • Street Stewards - volunteer patrols offering survival backpacks, harm-reduction supplies, and consistent, trauma-informed support. • Pay-It-Forward Meals - dignity-focused meals made possible by local restaurants and everyday diners who round up their bill to help a neighbour. • Skill-Share Saturdays - monthly workshops where community members exchange knowledge, from résumé clinics and budgeting basics to hands-on trades and cooking skills. • Micro-Work & Housing Hub - peer-led day-labour crews, matched-savings supports, and volunteer housing navigation to help participants move closer to secure housing. What makes CET different is how we unite residents, businesses, and people with lived experience. Instead of scattered, one-off efforts, we connect them into a shared system where every backpack, every meal, and every work hour contributes to measurable progress. As part of our early-stage development, we are seeking Founding Board of Directors to help guide our incorporation, governance, and first-year growth.
