About Updown Farmhouse
Updown is a beautiful 17th century former farmstead just outside Deal, Kent. Along with the Gate House and Gardener’s Cottage, the house has been lovingly updated to provide a total of six luxuriously appointed rooms. The farmhouse has an abundance of space to relax and we hope all of our guests will treat it as a real home from home. There is a library with books, games and daily newspapers; a fully stocked honesty bar for guests to mix their own drinks; the drawing room overlooking the terrace and garden restaurant. The site is 7 acres in total and we encourage guests to wander the gardens and woodlands, where there are a multitude of secluded spots to enjoy in peace including our beautiful kitchen garden. Our magical conservatory restaurant is set amid Updown’s rambling grounds. Dine under the grape vines surrounded by beautiful 17th century brick and watch the chefs in the open kitchen tending to the wood fired grill and original farm house bread oven. The restaurant has been completely transformed by owners Ruth and Oli to be heated and fully enclosed and is open year round. The conservatory restaurant is open to the public on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights and for lunch Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Breakfast is open to the public from late Spring. Menus will be small, hyper seasonal and use the best of local and European produce and change on regular basis to reflect what’s best. Everything is cooked over wood in the open kitchen. There is a short list of exciting wines of limited availability, local beers and seasonal cocktails. Updown has several beautiful spaces in which to host your private event.
