About Urban Mentors

About Urban Mentors Network Nearly two decades ago, a small group of young women in East Oakland came together to support local teenage girls through mentorship and community. That grassroots effort grew into Urban Mentors Network, a nonprofit committed to empowering youth and families through consistent, long-term, faith-inspired relationships. Today, we mentor youth from Kindergarten through college, with a focus on leadership, service, and belonging. Our programs create safe, inclusive spaces where young people from diverse backgrounds can grow, lead, and thrive. Our Mission: Provide long-term, faith-rooted mentoring through small groups and one-on-one relationships Equip youth and families to become agents of positive change in their communities Expand access to a strong, supportive network of caring adults and resources We currently mentor 40–50 youth annually and engage hundreds more through family events and community gatherings.
