About URI Office of New Student Transitions
The University of Rhode Island’s Office of New Student Transitions (NST) takes pride in crafting seamless transitions for new students, ensuring they feel welcomed from the moment they step foot on campus. From meticulously planned campus tours highlighting our beautiful campus to dynamic orientation programs fostering community and belonging, we pave the way for a successful academic journey. We are also the driving force behind the buzz and excitement of O-Week, orchestrating a myriad of engaging activities and events that set the stage for lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories. NST is grateful to employ passionate and dedicated individuals who embody the rich tapestry of our University community. They work collaboratively with our peers in Enrollment Management, Admissions, Enrollment Services, University College for Academic Success (UCAS), as well as our essential academic and student affairs campus partners. Made up of 250 student employees who join our team through a highly competitive application process, we value diverse perspectives, high engagement in our campus community, academic excellence, and innovative leadership. NST recognizes the pivotal role a solid foundation plays in students' persistence and success throughout their academic journey. Equipping students with a comprehensive understanding of the University fosters a smoother transition, enhancing their sense of belonging and connection, and ultimately bolstering their retention rates. Through familiarizing them with support services, facilitating meaningful connections, fostering a welcoming environment, and honing essential skills, we empower students to thrive academically and personally.
